Chapter 1.2: When the great sun has turned his face

The last few days, Silvia's life slowly fell into a routine. Her days are spent reading books and practicing writing. Sometimes when she gets bored of staying in the apartment, she heads to the park or the library to talk with the locals.

Silvia quickly runs out of books to read and heads to the library. There she runs into Basil again. They talk about their favorite books and discover that they have similar tastes. They quickly become friends.Silvia still has some reservations regarding her new friend; there have been weird rumors surrounding him. Everyone in Grey Meadows has a weird trait or two, but the rumors regarding Basil claim that he's been here for at least a century. Some whisper that they've seen him turn into a bat at night. Being a practical, realistic woman, Silvia dismisses all these supernatural talk. There is one rumour thatj piques her interest, though, and that rumor is about his involvement with Quailhogs Inc. Basil is currently a mature adult, so it seems he would have been too young to have been part of the start of Quailhogs, but perhaps his family was involved?

Silvia remembers talking standing in the library talking with Basil. Suddenly she feels weird. Her wrist itches. She has no idea why. Feeling tired after a long day, she parts with Basil and heads home.

While Silvia was working and reading, Irwin has been inventing widgets and toys. He's been offered a sponsorship by the Science Center. They offered simoleons, and a chance to mingle with the scientists at the center if Irwin improved his skills. Irwin is not very social, but he loves geeking out with fellow scientists. He's also delighted to feel like he's being accepted and acknowledged by the local science community.

That night, Silvia has a horrifying dream about massive flying bats.

Another plain regular day begins. Silvia gets up early and gets ready to head out for work. She's still at the lowest rung of the career ladder, and has to work extra hard for promotions. She has a good feeling about work today. Recently she's been getting to know her coworkers better and she also spent lots of time reading and practicing writing. She looks over to her housemate, Irwin.

Irwin is still fast asleep. She briefly wonders why Irwin came in so late last night. It doesn't seem like Irwin was out partying... he really doesn't seem like the partying type. Silvia is doubtful that Irwin has acceptable clothes to go clubbing in. She's a bit jealous that Irwin gets to sleep in, and wake up whenever he wants. But then, that's because Irwin doesn't really have a professional job. She's a little worried whether Irwin in earning enough to pay his half of the bills.

Irwin wakes up a couple hours after Silvia has left. He lounges around the studio, and leisurely goes about taking care of household chores. He just hates cleaning the toilet. But then, he can't imagine Silvia cleaning the toilet either. She seemed really busy with work too, and he figures it'd just be better for him to take care of it.

Irwin spends most of his day inventing things. It was a pretty productive day and Irwin sold several small widgets and toys for a pretty decent amount of money.

Silvia returns home right after work. Without even changing from her work clothes, she heads straight to her bed and takes a nap. She's been staying up late getting to know the locals in the neighborhood and practicing her writing skills.

After a short nap, Silvia is rejuvenated. She realizes Irwin is also home. It's been several days since day moved in together, and they haven't had much time to get to know each other. Both of them have been busy, and rarely were both home at the same time, unless at night to sleep. Silvia just got a promotion today from work and she's in a really good mood. She suggests to Irwin that they should go out together tonight and have some fun.

But before they headed out Silvia took charge of Irwin's clothes and dressed him up a bit. Irwin seriously lacked "fun" clothes. Silvia thinks he looks a lot more mature now that he dressed more like a young adult, rather than a teen in a hoodie and jeans. Now, if only she could do something about the hair... But Irwin absolutely refuses Silvia touching his hair.

"Let's have some drinks" Silvia hands Irwin a suspiciously pink liquid. Irwin hesitates at first. He doesn't really like how alcohol fuddles his brains. But after a couple gulps, Irwin starts feeling much more carefree.

On the other hand, Silvia's mood quickly turns gloomy after a couple of drinks. She's still giddy about her promotion, but there are other things on her mind that are bothering her. At work today, she asked a couple of coworkers about Basil Q. Jaughook. Her coworkers seemed a bit uncomfortable talking about Basil, which struck her as strange. During lunch break, Eva Rouge, her boss who lives with Basil cautiously warn her about being too close with Basil. Silvia wonders what Eva and Basil's relationship is. Eva assures Silvia that her relationship with Basil is purely professional. After a bit of hesitation, Eva informs Silvia that Basil is really a vampire.

Normally Silvia wouldn't pay any attention to all this supernatural nonsense, but now she can't stop thinking about it. Last night she had a dream of her wrist being bitten. There is a strange blemish on her wrist. She's been feeling a little off, and tired, and drained of energy lately.

While her mind worries about supernatural nonsense, she drinks, and drinks and drinks. She's feeling a little woozy. She realizes that Irwin had been talking to her all this time about famous inventors, and the most current technologies. In her hazy mind, Irwin's face is really close to her. And now that she's so close-up, she can see a bit of his face. He's not too bad, she thinks. He's actually kind of cute. She cuts him off from whatever he was saying,

"Hey- Irwin. Have you even had a kiss before?"
and, smooch.

It happened and ended quickly. Silvia, slightly tipsy, looks over at Irwin's surprised face and giggles.

"Hehe, you know, you're kind of cute, you know?"

After saying that, Silvia drops to the ground. She just can't seem to be able to stand up. Her legs aren't listening to her. Irwin's a bit dazed. Irwin is very dazed, but he does have enough common sense to realize it's time Silvia should go home

Irwin safely takes Silvia back to their house. He's still dazed. He can't believe what just happened. He does understand that Silvia was very drunk. But, she did call him cute. And, she kissed him. She kissed him. Him.

Silvia barely had time to sleep last night. They came back home at 4am, so she only had 2 hours of sleep. Her head is pounding, and she reeks of alcohol. She doesn't really remember how they got back home last night. All she remembers is a lot of dancing and drinking. No matter how tired she is, she needs to get ready and head out for work. She curses her yesterday-self for being such a party animal. It's Thursday. Almost Friday, but not Friday yet.

After work, Silvia takes a nap again. She's been feeling really tired lately. She notices that Irwin is gone. She hadn't seen him all day today. It's not too unusual though. She rarely saw Irwin during the last past week. She's glad she got to know him better last night though. Truthfully, she doesn't really remember much of last night. She drank a lot more than she usually does, so the memory is a little fuzzy. But she feels like they bonded last night. Irwin is such a geek, but a cute geek.

When she wakes up from her nap, she gets a call from Basil. He's throwing a swim suit party and Silvia is invited. Silvia's a bit unsure of her friendship with Basil at the moment. There are so many things that are strange about Basil. But a party at his house? What a good excuse to go snooping around for hints! Silvia decides to attend and head out.

When she sees Basil, she's overcome with an inexplicable sense of fear. She's really not sure what's going on.

The party was decent, there wasn't much of anything unusual in Basil's house. Silvia was about to head out, when it suddenly hits her, the metamorphosis.

Her body is on fire.
She feels like she's dying.
She feels like she's being born.

It takes a moment to regain herself. It doesn't take too long to realize what has happened. Although she tried to dismiss it as nonsense, Silvia has had the lingering doubt simmering in the back of her mind. She immediately seeks out Basil and confronts him.

Basil doesn't have much to say about it. He seemed to have assumed that Silvia had known, and that she would be honored to be turned. He doesn't understand her frustration and anger at all.

That's when Silvia is struck by memories. Physically, it feels like a huge hammer just hit her head. A flood of memories, starting from the birth of Basil's vampire clan, rushes in. Silvia is fed images of all the atrocities the clan has committed. Murder, assault, fraud, bribery, rape. Everything and anything Silvia has tried to expose.

Silvia's whole life is thrown off course. She's always dreamed of being a journalist. Writing about and exposing the corruption in the world. She's always been passionate about her job and her dream. Even now, when she's only running errands at the office, she's been motivated because she had a dream. What Basil did to her, was snatching her away from her world and dragging her down to the very bottom. As a vampire, she's now part of the clan, part of the darker world.

Silvia produces her ugliest snarl. It may be the new vampire-self that is enabling such hatred. Silvia threatens Basil, he will pay for this. She will figure out a way to expose him, and those like him, to the whole world. They will not be able to run around so freely as they do know. They will not be allowed the power to freely take people's life apart. She's a journalist, and from this day on, it will be her goal to find every single one of these infectious vampires and bring them to light.

Furious, Silvia heads back home. It's late night time now. Although she was feeling tired before coming to the party, now she feels so full of energy. Vampire powers. She's disgusted with what she has become.

When she gets back home, Irwin is there, still awake. Irwin had been up and waiting for Silvia on purpose. He's been unable to forget about last night's kiss. He knows that Silvia was drunk. He knows that that's probably the end of the story and that there's nothing else to it. But, he just can't stop himself from wondering, what if there was more to it. However, as soon as he see's Silvia, he realizes that something is wrong.

Although she was all composed right after the change, and in front of Basil, when she arrives back home and is greeted with her housemate's concern, she breaks down. She spills everything, about what had just happened.

Irwin listens patiently and helps Silvia calm down. While listening, his brilliant brain is racing to come up with a solution to this problem. Irwin likes sciences, but he's always been more of a physics person. Silvia's condition seems more related to chemistry. Irwin was never bad at chemistry, but he wasn't brilliant in it either. He definitely did not have the skills to whiff up a chemical solution to cure her problem. His brain locates a piece of memory from not too far back. Recently he had a get together with the local scientists, and one scientist had mentioned possible research being done in studying supernatural life forms.

"Sivlia, there might be a cure to this, I know some scientists in the area, and they mentioned that they were conducting come research related to non-human life forms. I'll contact them and see if they know anything, if they have any way of reversing the transformation."

Chapter notes:
I had no plans of turning Silvia into a vampire. I DID have plans for Silvia and Basil to woohoo together and get the first child. Have Silvia's heart broken, and then eventually marry Irwin and settle down and have the second child, the heir.

I saw Basil in the library and started socializing with him. Basil did get the "I'm very very hungry" clouds over his heads, but I just dismissed it, 'cause normally it doesn't do anything. They were getting pretty friendly, so I let autonomous take over and just watched. The game said that Silvia is listening to Basil, so I figured he'll just tell a story or something. The listen turned out to be the 'offer to turn' interaction and Basil autonomously bit Silvia. :(

I don't really want to play a vampire.... but now I'm changing the story to fit the new changes.

I realized that this is a very Silvia-intense chapter and doesn't really have much Irwin, to the point that there aren't really any good photos of Irwin. :( I'll try to get some better pictures of Irwin next time. Or possibly changes his hair when he comes out of the shower or something, so people can actually see his face. :P

Every winter,
When the great sun has turned his face away,
The earth goes down into a vale of grief,
And fasts, and weeps, and shrouds herself in sables,
Leaving her wedding-garlands to decay-
Then leaps in spring to his returning kisses.

Chapter 1.1: A cold wind was blowing from the north

Silvia Winter recently graduated from high school. She grew up in Sunset Valley with her uncle's family. It wasn't a bad childhood and she appreciated all her uncle did to make her feel like part of the family.

However, now that she's a young adult, she decided that it was high time to move out. Not only did she want to move out of her uncle's house, she also wanted to move to a different neighborhood. Sunset Valley was nice, peaceful and quiet. Some people liked that, Silvia not so much. She wants to become a journalist, and Sunset Valley was too quiet for that. Sure it had its own share of drama and gossip, but that was it. After a bit of research, her heart is set on moving to Grey Meadows. It's bleak, it's grey, and there are rumours about illegal activies. The whole rise of Quailhogs Inc., the biggest corporation in that neighborhood, is shrouded in mystery. Some uneducated people have been hinting involvement of vampires. Silvia wonders how bad the public education system in Grey Meadows must be if some people seriously believe in vampires.

There was one catch in the whole moving process, though. Turns out that it's not cheap to get a house in Grey Meadows, and Silvia would prefer not to depend on her uncle too much. The solution came in the form of a housemate.

Irwin Kirkwood is a friend of a friend. They went to the same school together, but didn't really know each other. Irwin knew about Silvia. Silvia was popular in school, smart and pretty. Guys were all around her. She's wearing pretty professional clothes right now and doesn't seem like it, but Irwin heard people talking about what a party animal she really is. Truth be told, Irwin has had a crush on Silvia ever since he first met her. They were in the same bio class in highschool once, and Irwin fell hard for her.

He likes that about her. Silvia was smart and ambitious. She never slacked off on studying, but that didn't mean she didn't go out to play either. Irwin was also smart, but he lacked social skills. People just eluded him. But Silvia, she sparkled. Irwin was hopelessly in love. When he heard about Silvia looking for a person to share a rent in Grey Meadows, he begged and begged his one friend to tell Silvia that he's also looking for a roommate in Grey Meadows. He hadn't thought of moving to Grey Meadows before. He wants to become an inventor, so location doesn't really matter. Irwin couldn't believe his luck when Silvia agreed to be housemates with him.

Silvia and Irwin meet up in Grey Meadows. Silvia believes that this is the first time they are meeting each other. Her first impression of Irwin is far from flattering. He looks messy and unkempt, a total slob. Still, Silvia tries to do some small talk and get to know her future roommate.

"Hi, you must be Irwin. I'm Silvia. Nice to meet you. Hope we'll get along well."

"Um, yea. Yea me too." Irwin stammers and fails at communication. The conversation quickly comes to a halt. They awkwardly get in the elevator together to go up and see their new home.

The room is rather small: it's a one room studio with a bathroom and a tiny kitchen area. There is one large double bed in the studio. Silvia and Irwin stare at each other awkwardly.

They quickly make a trip to buy some furniture. Luckily, since they are splitting the rent, they have enough money left over to buy new furniture.

Silvia learns that Irwin is an aspiring Inventor. She's a little worried that his workstation might produce a lot of mess. Irwin assures her that the mess will be contained within his workspace. He quickly steals a glance at Silvia. He still can't believe that he'll be living with for the next year, atleast

As soon as they settle down, Silvia heads out to join the journalism career. She's very eager to start working. While Silvia is gone, Irwin fiddles around with what he has. He wants to become a registered inventor, but in order to do that he needs at least some kind of invention to prove that he is capable of the job.

After a bit of fiddling around Irwin decides to check out the local junkyward for some scraps.

After joining the journalism career, Silvia spend some time wandering around the neighborhood and gather information from the locals. While walking around the park, she passes by a weird sim. Silvia paused, blinked, and blinked again. What a pervert! She can't believe he's just sitting in the park like that. She overhears some locals gossiping about the weird sim. His name is Ewan Burke. Silvia is grossed out, but also intrigued. She throws furtive glances at him. He looks pretty handsome, he's also supposed to be a doctor. She wonders what's the story behind this guy is.

After scouting the neighborhood she heads to a local bar. Sadly, the place she chose is dead tonightSilvia is a bit worried about the living arrangements. She's happy that she was able to save money by finding a roommate. She thought, since it was a friend of a friend, there wouldn't be much problems about rooming with a shady character. Irwin is not shady, not even a bit. But, he's a bit odd. He seems friendly enough though. He seemed a bit shy, reserved. But harmless, and nice. She orders a drink for herself, and then decides to head back home.

This is the first day of her adulthood. Silvia was looking forward to spending a wild night tonight. She's bummed out that didn't happen, and she sulks, and walks back home. On her way back home she spots a man standing alone by the river. She recognizes him immediately. He's Basil Q. Jaughook. He's name popped up everywhere when she was researching Grey Meadows. There were also a lot of rumors saying that he's a vampire. Some even claimed that he's THE vampire in Grey Meadows.

She briefly thinks about how it's a little dangerous. It's late at night, she's a little drunk, and she can't see anyone else nearby. But Silvia was deflated from her bar experience and looking for something special to commemorate her first night at Grey Meadows. She decides to approach him. Basil seem to be in a mellow mood. They engage in casual conversation, bordering flirtatious. They find out that both are singles. Silvia would have liked to get to know this intriguing character more, but she realizes she's exhausted from moving around all day, and has to start work tomorrow, so they say their goodbyes.

Both exhausted, they both have good dreams that night

The first morning they have together. Irwin likes it.

Silvia is in a rush, so by the time Irwin gets out of his shower, Silvia is gone. Both Silvia and Irwin are busy trying to settle down. They haven't had much time to get to know each other. So far, it seems like they are pretty compatible as roommates.

Irwin spends that day reading about logic and handiness. He's grateful that Silvia is a bookworm, and remembered to buy a bookshelf. He also enjoys reading on Silvia's desk.

With inspiration from logic and handiness books, Irwin heads to the junkyard again. He meets a simbot and is amazed. He's only ever read about simbots before. Simbots are the epitome of sim inventions. Irwin just stares at the simbot for awhile. Finally, the simbot decides to initiate a conversation. Irwin is just awe-struck. He learns that the simbot is a busker. He wonders whether the simbot is able to produce sentimental music, or just plays notes technically. He forgets to ask the simbot his name. Irwin hopes he will run into him another day. He thinks he's a him. He's not really sure.

Title: "a cold wind was blowing from the north, and it made the trees rustle like living things" -George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

Hihi!! So, I've been playing sims for a while now, but I'm new to the whole storytelling aspect and also doing a legacy. I've attempted normal legacies before but usually stop around 3rd generation. I've been lurking around in MTS and reading several people's random legacy blogs. It sounded like so much fun, so I decided to give it a try!

mm, English isn't my first language, so I'm sorry if there are glaring grammar mistakes. :\

Hope you've enjoyed the first chapter! Any comments or suggestions are always welcome!
